Egyptian deputy involved stolen Van Gogh paintings

Cairo, Sept 7. - A deputy minister of Egypt, along with 10 others will be brought to court for allegedly having links with the robbery, Vincent Van Gogh paintings from the Egyptian museum last month.

Mohsen Shaalan, the deputy culture minister in charge of the Department of Art, is the highest ranked individuals will be brought to justice on the case.

He, along with various officials - all working in museums such as the stolen paintings - can be sentenced to up to three years imprisonment if found guilty, and they will be heard beginning next Tuesday, prosecutors said in a statement to the media. - DPA
